Vitamin K2 - Crucial for Heart Health

Last week I wrote about the importance of calcium absorption for our bone health. As I mentioned in last week’s article, one of the concerns when not absorbing calcium is the concern the calcium may find its way into other parts of our body, particularly our arteries. Build-up of calcium deposits in our arteries increases risk of strokes and heart attacks. As well as looking at a plant-based calcium to ensure better calcium absorption I also mentioned Vitamin K2 referred to as menaquinone-7 (MK-7}. Vitamin K2 was launched onto the market several years ago and during that time there has been very interesting studies released particularly on the menaquinone-7.
