Fermented Turmeric with Probiotics

24 Apr 2017

I have written previously about the anti inflammatory properties of Turmeric, especially when it comes to treatment of pain and inflammation as well as inflammatory bowel disease. I have also written recently about the benefits of probiotics as well as fermented foods when it comes to gut health and other health conditions.

The great news is, we now stock a newly released product which contains bio-fermented Turmeric, Ginger and Black Pepper as well as 7 strains of probiotics. The Turmeric, Ginger and Black Pepper are processed in a probiotic fermentation plant which alters the structure of the ingredients to create a combination of highly available bioactive compounds.  In other words, as with most fermented products, our gut is more easily able to digest and absorb the nutrients which is a huge bonus.

I’m really excited about this product because taking a combination of turmeric and probiotics can be helpful in many ways:

Arthritis – we know Turmeric is extremely helpful with prevention and treatment of Arthritis, particularly joint swelling, morning stiffness and pain.  Our customers are constantly telling us about their positive results. However, many would not be aware Probiotics are now believed to help Arthritis, particularly Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Sinusitis – Turmeric can be helpful in reducing the swelling in sinus cavities because of its anti-inflammatory properties.  We also know sinusitis can often be related to allergies and poor gut health which means probiotics can be helpful when preventing and treating sinusitis.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease –  The anti inflammatory actions of Turmeric can assist in treating the pain and cramping associated with Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis and IBS.  Once again gut and bowel health can be assisted with probiotics.

Alzheimer’s Disease –It is believed a combination of Turmeric and Vit D3 may not only help prevent Alzheimer’s Disease, it has been found to improve the behavioural symptoms of patients suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease.  We now know our gut health plays an important part in maintaining our brain function. Early research is indicating probiotic treatment for Alzheimer’s patients may improve mental function.

Cholesterol – Turmeric is believed to inhibit the oxidisation of cholesterol in the body, thereby preventing the build up of plaque which in turn can cause heart attacks and stroke. Interestingly, there is early research indicating supplementation with probiotics may help to lower bad cholesterol.

So now you can understand why I’m so excited about this new formula.

Each 15 ml contains 6 billion probiotics and 900mg of turmeric.  Adding Ginger and Black Pepper also increases the absorption of the Turmeric. Dosage is 1 to 3 servings per day. The obvious question is what does it taste like?  A little like vinegar (not too strong) with a dash of ginger and pepper.  Quite palatable.  If you don’t believe me!! We have samples in store for taste testing.
