What Are the Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar?

21 Jun 2018

Apple cider vinegar has been well known for some time for its therapeutic benefits. For many, the taste of apple cider vinegar has been a problem, however the good news is, apple cider vinegar is now available in capsules

Apple cider vinegar contains many therapeutic benefits including:

  • A traditional treatment for arthritis is a combination of 1 tsp apple cider vinegar, 1 tsp hydrolysed collagen gelatin, ½ tsp honey mixed with water. As I’ve written previously, an alkaline body is helpful when treating arthritis.  Apple cider vinegar is alkalizing plus gelatin may be effective in repairing cartilage.

  • Improving digestion. Once again, the alkalizing benefits may be helpful with digestion.

  • Adding virgin olive oil to apple cider vinegar makes a delicious salad dressing, which is believed to reduce the glycemic index (GI) of a meal.

  • Sipping apple cider vinegar in water with honey is a traditional remedy for morning sickness.

  • After a particularly fatty meal, drink 2 tsp apple cider vinegar in a glass of water to avoid a feeling of nausea.

  • Reducing age spots, pimples and acne scars by dabbing diluted apple cider vinegar on spots.

  • Balancing the PH of the skin. Rinsing the skin with diluted apple cider vinegar may prevent the skin from becoming too oily or too dry by balancing the production of sebum.

It’s interesting, apple cider vinegar seems to have been around forever, as an essential part of every kitchen cupboard and home medicine kit.  However I’m sure most of us would not realize there are so many handy uses for this natural vinegar:

  • Did you know you can extend the life of fresh cut flowers by just adding 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 1 teaspoon of sugar to each litre of water.

  • To remove lint from clothes add half a cup of apple cider vinegar to the rinse cycle. Now I know what I’m going to use when that dreaded tissue is left in my black pants pocket!

  • Remove perspiration stains from clothes by applying one part apple cider vinegar to four parts water then rinse.

  • Adding 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to water when boiling eggs can prevent the egg from cracking.

  • Rinse glasses and dishes in water and apple cider vinegar to remove spots and film.

  • Clean windows with apple cider vinegar and water.

  • Remove stains from stainless steel and chrome with apple cider vinegar dampened cloth.

  • Add apple cider vinegar to your pet’s drinking water to eliminate odour and encourage shiny fur.

  • To clean woodwork, painted walls and venetian blinds, mix one cup of ammonia, half cup of apple cider vinegar and 4.5 litres of warm water.  Wipe with sponge, then rinse.

  • Place a cup of apple cider vinegar inside thee refrigerator for 2 days to deodorize and freshen.

  • To clean gold jewelry, submerge in apple cider vinegar for 15 minutes, then dry with soft cloth.

  • To stop peeled potatoes discolouring, add 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to a bowl of water and submerge potatoes.  A teaspoon added to a saucepan will keep boiled potatoes white.

  • For mild sunburn, rub skin lightly with a cotton ball soaked in apple cider vinegar.

So there we are – what a multipurpose product.  There are not many cleaning products which can also help treat your arthritis and digestion!! It is important when selecting apple cider vinegar for therapeutic purposes, to source apple cider vinegar which is unfiltered, unpasteurized and contains the Mother of Vinegar which occurs naturally as strand like enzymes of connected protein-like molecules.
