Pain Relief For Our Pets

Pain Relief For Our Pets

Bev Dunne

For some time now we have been selling curcumin which is the active ingredient in turmeric, for treatment of pain and inflammation, particularly when it comes to arthritis. In fact, curcumin has become our biggest seller when it comes to treatment of arthritis.

It was only a matter of time before there was a realisation that curcumin may also be helpful for treatment of pain and inflammation for animals. This led to the innovation of a product known as CurcuPet-K9.

Curcumin is a yellow pigment found primarily in turmeric which is a flowering plant related to the ginger family. It’s a polyphenol with anti-inflammatory properties which has the ability to increase the amount of antioxidants our body produces. Curcumin found in turmeric can be extracted to produce supplements which have a much higher potency than turmeric. It has also been found curcumin is not absorbed well during digestion. CurcuPet was formulated using a form of curcumin scientifically proven to be 30 times more bio-available than normal turmeric which means our animals get maximum benefits.

Just as importantly, the creators of Curupet have worked to understand the dosage required for animals and have also removed the taste from the tablets.

Since this product was released there have been many positive testimonials from pet owners.

One owner of an American Staffy told us how her dog had joint dysplasia in both front and back hip joints. Instead of opting for surgery she gave her dog Curcupet. After 4 months the dog had no limp or any external signs of joint problems.

Another owner commented about her 14-year-old Tibetan Spaniel which was suffering from ‘wonky’ back legs and was reluctant to walk. After one week on Curcupet her dog was more mobile pestering her to go out for a walk.

Another 7-year-old Spoodle was suffering joint pain after an operation on his knee. After 3 weeks the dog was like a 5-year-old again, playing with other dogs.

These exciting testimonials. None of us like to see our pets in pain and there is no placebo effect here as our pets aren’t aware of the expected effect of the curcumin.

Whilst we’re on the subject of supplements for pets, many would not realise there is now an especially formulated Rescue Remedy for Pets. Once again, we humans have used Rescue Remedy for years as a calmative. Well, animals have emotions too and this formula is great for calming our animals particularly if they have been through a traumatic situation. It is especially helpful during thunderstorms or even fireworks when our pets become anxious. We know our pets can become anxious when transported or taken to strange places. Sometimes they become overexcited around new people. Often when they know we are leaving them, they can become anxious. Just add 2 drops to their drinking water and you will find their behaviour quickly returns to normal.

You may have noticed we have also expanded our pet care section to include dog biscuits. If you are concerned about some of the ingredients contained in commercial dog biscuits, you may also be interested in our new range of Doggylicious biscuits which are packed full of nutrition, fibre, protein and contain no nasties. In some of the biscuits contained in the range there is 100% egg shell powder added to provide natural calcium. Others have specifically researched probiotics added for our dogs’ gut health and to aid their digestive system. There is a specific biscuit containing L-Theanine which can help as a calmative and another containing extra protein.
